Final Forum in association with Top Rank headlined an exciting night of boxing entitled “Fists a Flying at the Aviator” a sports and recreation center in Brooklyn , New York this past Thursday.

In the main event, NABF Super Welterweight Champion Yuri Foreman improved to 25-0 (8), out-boxing Saul Roman, 24-5 (20), over ten rounds with scores of 97-93 and 98-92 twice.

Foreman came out from the opening bell boxing and moving well which continued throughout the entire fight. During the third round, Roman was cut by an accidental head-butt over the left eye. The cut streamed with blood in the fourth round and was examined by the ringside physician who allowed the bout to continue.

Foreman continued his boxing exhibition and exercised lightning fast punches in the sixth round that caught Roman flush. Feeling the urgency that he was well behind on the scorecards, Roman came out in the seventh trying to chase Foreman down but could not cut off the ring effectively.

The unanimous decision victory brings Foreman another step closer to getting a major title fight later this year.

In the co-feature, Joshua Clottey, 34-2 (21), needed only five rounds to stop Jose Luis Cruz, 36-4-2 (29), in the scheduled ten round super welterweight bout.

Clottey dominated the fight from the opening bell against the awkward Cruz landing several power punches early in the first round. An accidental head butt caused a cut on the forehead of Cruz in the second round.

As Clottey landed punches at will Cruz seemed off balance and nearly went down by crossing his feet as he backed away from the aggressor.

In the fifth round Clottey landed several unanswered blows that caused the referee to break the fighters calling a halt to the bout at 2:48 of the round.

Undefeated Lightweight Argenis Mendez improved to 10-0 (7) by stopping Oscar De La Cruz. 5-5 (2), in five rounds. Mendez showed a good jab and accurate counter punching which he was able to land at will throughout the bout. Mendez landed a barrage of punches that forced the referee to stop the bout as De La Cruz slumped to the canvas at 1:18 of the round.

In a welterweight bout, Martin Wright, 6-0-1 (3), needed only three rounds of a scheduled six round bout to stop Artie Bembury, 2-3 (0), who was down in both the second and third rounds. Bembury retired on his stool deciding not to come out for the fourth round.

Making his way from mixed martial arts into professional boxing, Chris Algieri made his debut by defeating Ken Dunham, 3-5 (2), by TKO in the third round. After a cautious start, Algieri began to let his hands go in the second and third rounds and after landing several unanswered power punches the referee called a halt to the bout at 1:54 of the round.

In a four round welterweight bout, two fighters made their pro debut and Anthony Lenk won a unanimous decision over Bernel Ayers with scores of 40-36 from all three judges.

Light middleweight Mike Ruiz, 6-2 (5), scored a first round win over Bryan Mullis, 4-4-1 (2), with a TKO victory at 2:16 of the round.
