Former United States Olympic Gold Medallist and undefeated super middleweight Andre Ward, 15-0 (12), and former Dominican Olympian Jerson Ravelo, 18-2 (12), will take part in a New York City press conference today to promote their upcoming NABO Super Middleweight Championship bout on Friday, June 20 on ShoBox: The New Generation, live on Showtime at 11 p.m. ET/PT delayed on the west coast.
A win for Ward, the only U.S. boxer to win a gold medal in either of the last two Olympics, will push him closer to his goal of a world championship. Ravelo, who was a participant on the highly popular “The Contender ” TV series, is coming off an impressive victory over previously undefeated prospect Paul Buchanan.
The fight will originate from the beautiful outdoor Truman Bodden Sports Complex in the capital city of George Town on Grand Cayman. Goossen Tutor Promotions in association with the Cayman Island Department of Tourism will promote the event, which will be the first championship in the islandʼs history.
