Impact Boxing: Stoke Prospect Danny Johnson Ready For Busy Ring Return

Following a twelve month absence from the ring, Stokeʼs Danny Johnston will fight twice within three weeks. He will contest the International Masters Title at light middleweight against Birminghamʼs Terry Adams at Trentham Gardens on June 6 but will prepare with a four round warm-up contest against veteran Peter Dunn at the Kings Hall, Stoke on May 17.

Johnston, 4-3, possesses an aggressive style backed with heavy hands and therefore always has the potential to produce an explosive performance. Adams, 6-11-1, is also blessed with a ferocious arsenal and is well capable of stopping opponents. Although Johnston has home advantage, Adams has greater experience on his side; on paper therefore, this looks like a real 50/50 contest to launch Impact Boxingʼs first dinner show.

The seasoned Dunn, 12-93-4, should offer much less stern opposition for the Stoke man than Adams and represents little or no threat to Johnston. Dunn does, however, provide Danny with the opportunity to shake off any ring rust ahead of his title bid.

“I havenʼt always taken my career seriously since turning professional,” admitted Johnston, “but Iʼm committed now and Iʼm putting everything into getting back on track. Iʼve always believed that I have the potential to make my mark in boxing and other people have told me that too. Now itʼs time for me to prove what I can do.”

“Iʼve been working very hard in the gym and Iʼm fitter than ever; Iʼll be ready when the time comes and Iʼll give it my best shot to win this title. I know that Terry Adams can be dangerous and that heʼs fought for Masters titles before so Iʼm taking nothing for granted. Iʼm sure weʼll both be as determined as each other to come out on top so I expect a tough fight. Whoever wins on the night will have deserved their victory.”

Impact Boxing head coach, Lindon Newbon added: “Dannyʼs work ethic has been exceptional and I canʼt fault him at all. Iʼm confident that weʼll have him in great shape for both fights but once he gets into the ring its up to him. He knows what he needs to do and what heʼll have to go through to get what he wants; I have great faith him.”

Tickets for both events are available from Impact Boxing on 0797 182 4337.
