WBA-IBF featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez is apparently well aware of WBO champion Scott Harrison's desire to step his competition up a notch. Marquez was due to fight Manny Pacquiao in a rematch of their controversial first fight last year, the fight was scheduled but Marquez's |
huge purse demands could not be met and the fight fell through. Marquez was then reported to have signed for a fight with former super bantamweight champion Israel Vazquez, a possibility that will also take a back-seat if Marquez's latest challenge is met. Harrison recently retained his title in Glasgow against Victor Polo by a hard-fought twelve-round decision. Harrison had stated that he wished to fight Marco Antonio Barrera and with rumors that Barrera may not make his mandatory obligation in the super featherweight division, Barrera-Harrison may also remain a possibility. Marquez has already agreed to fight Harrison and Sports Network are set to look at the contract demands.
We will keep you updated to the progress in this situation, and don't forget to check back to the site as SaddoBoxing.com will be conducting an exclusive interview with Scott Harrison soon.
