Don King Boxing: WBA Lightweight Title Fight Broadcast Monday On DonKingTV.com

By Boxing Press May 17th, 2008 All Press Releases

Promoter Don King has come to the rescue of boxing fans around the world that would have missed out on an opportunity to see Monday’s World Boxing Association lightweight championship by making it available for free at DonKingTV.com.

The same-day webcast of WBA lightweight champion Jose Alfaro defending his crown against Yosuke Kobori from Tokyo, Japan, will be available worldwide to fans logging on to DonKingTV.com on Monday, May 19, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT/1 a.m. GMT.

The WBA granted special permission for Alfaro, 20-3 (18), from Nicaragua, to make this voluntary title defense against Japanese champion Kobori, 22-2-1 (11), under the condition that the winner must face the mandatory challenger next, which will also be determined on this card.

Fans around the globe will also see undefeated Paulus Moses, 22-0 (16), from Namibia, for the first time since he secured the WBA lightweight No. 1 ranking when he meets Yahuhen Krohlik, 7-10-2, from Belarus, to determine who will become the WBA mandatory lightweight challenger.

Kelly Oil is sponsoring the webcast. Promoter Don King represents Alfaro and will be in attendance at the match, which is being promoted by Kadobei Promotions.

“First I went from the Rumble in the Jungle to the Thrilla in Manila,” King said. “Now I will have webcast to a worldwide audience three fights from three different continents in just three months. The future is now.”
