IBF World Champion Lucian Bute, 22-0-0 (18), has signed a new promotion agreement with InterBox. Boxing fans throughout

Quebec will be able to follow the Romanian Sensation’s brilliant career live and in their living rooms for the next few years.

"Lucian Bute is the cream of our crop at InterBox and I am delighted that he has signed a long term agreement with us," said InterBox President Eric Lucas.

"Lucian has made us feel great emotion in the ring since his arrival to Montreal and now his ever-growing fan base will be able to follow his

voluntary title defenses at the Montreal Bell Centre. This new pact with Lucian will also have a major impact on the Quebec boxing industry."

Lucian Bute’s former contract expired in March 2008, but was prolonged to permit both parties some additional time for negotiation. Jean Bédard, President of the Groupe Sportscene Inc. lead the discussions with Lucian Bute.

"The negotiation period was cordial and professional," said Bédard. "Lucian has many ambitions, and he knows what he wants. I believe that we also have interesting things to offer him. This is an agreement that will be profitable for both parties."

Lucian Bute is overjoyed to be continuing his career with InterBox, especially in Quebec in front of the same fans who lead him to a world title conquest. "I am extremely happy and proud of this new agreement with InterBox," he said.

"InterBox helped me achieve my dream of winning a world title. I relied on the support of Quebec boxing fans and they did not let me down. The ambiance during my fights at the Bell Centre is extraordinary. These elements weighed heavily in my decision. I was adopted by the people here, and I have adopted Quebec. I wanted to continue to defend my title in front of my fans."
