There are string rumors circulating that IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd may be about to commit to a contract that would see him fighting former WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko in a rematch of their first fight. That first encounter, won decisively by Klitschko after putting Byrd down on two occasions, would be very interesting considering the current career form of both men. Byrd is in the ascendancy without question, having repelled the challenges of Andrew Golota and especially Jameel McCline in exciting fashion. Klitschko however has languished in defeat to supposedly lesser fighters, having been knocked cold by Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster. Klitschko's last fight was a technical decision win over Davarryl Williamson, and yet, Klitschko was down in that fight also.
