As Wladimir Klitschko and his management try to tempt current IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd to Germany for a fight, there is a strong possibility that Byrd will opt to fight mandatory challenger Monte Barrett. Barrett recently earned his chance to fight for a title in impressive fasnhion by knocking out former undefeated contender Owen Beck in nine rounds on the big Spinks-Judah II card in St. Louis. The match represents an even physical contest as Byrd and Barrett are both considered under-sized in comparison to the modern-day monsters abound in today's heavyweight division. The fight would also remain in America, preventing Byrd from having to travel to Germany at a disadvantage against Klitschko. Barrett's only other route to a title is through Vitali Klitschko who is alreayd set to fight Hasim Rahman later this year. Wanting to get a title shot soon, Barrett looks to be aiming for Byrd, look for this title fight to be announced soon. And don't forget, SaddoBoxing brings you the latest news free.
