Danish super featherweight prospect Kim Poulsen, 8-1 (1), will appear on the undercard of the Fawaz Nasir vs. Robert Steiglitz showdown on July 11 at the Rundturm Arena in Cuxhaven, Germany. Poulsen will be pitted against very experienced Tanzanian Obote “The Thunder” Ameme, 34-18-2 (27), a veteran of seven title fights of various kinds.
29-year-old Ameme has lost four of his last five fights, but Poulsen’s manager, Henrik Risum, believes the African will be a suitable test for the young Dane.
“I know Ameme very well as he went twelve rounds with my other super featherweight David Kiilu a few years ago, and he is a tough opponent for Kim at this stage," said Risum.
"But we want to build on the victory over Tony Jourda in April, and Ameme will be dangerous, but at the same time someone that Kim must handle to take the next step”.
In preparation for the bout, Poulsen is, among others, currently sparring with another African in 17-year-old Kenyan amateur talent Dennis Odhiambo, who posted a 18-1-1 record in the unpaid ranks, and at the moment is living and training with coach Brian Mathiasen.
Poulsen vs. Ameme will be contested over six rounds on an open-air show featuring Nasir vs. Stieglitz and female world champion Natasha Ragosina in main bouts. SES promotes, and DSF will televise!
