WBO Junior Welterweight Champion Ricardo Torres, his opponent, top-rated contender Kendall Holt, and undefeated brothers Lamont and Athony Peterson will host a media brunch today in Las Vegas.
Torres and Holt resume their hostilities in a rematch of their highly-controversial 2007 world title fight won by Torres via 11th round stoppage. In the competitive bout, Holt was pelted with debris during the later rounds as the crowd in Barranquilla, Colombia developed into a riotous, uncontrolled state last September.
Torres, 32-1 (28), was making the second defense of his WBO 140 lb crown and has not fought since. Holt, 23-2 (12), has since had one bout, posting a ten round majority decision over former world title challenger Ben Tackie in February.
Light welterweight Peterson, 24-0 (11), is coming off a wide points decision against previously undefeated Brazilian Antonio Mesquita in January and will meet Sacramento based Mexican Castaneda, 24-13-3 (8).
Promoted by Top Rank, Torres vs. Holt II and Lamont Peterson vs. Rogelio Castenada Jr, will take place Saturday, July 5, at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both fights will be broadcast live on Showtime's "ShoBox: The New Generation," beginning at?11 P.M. ET / PT, delayed on the west coast.
