Fawaz Nasir and Kim Poulsen are putting the final touches on their training for this coming Fridays fights in Cuxhaven, Germany. Super middleweight Nasir, 13-2 (8), is taking on Robert Stieglitz, 31-2 (19), over eight rounds in a bid to take over the Russian-Germans IBF # 4 world ranking, and Poulsen, 8-1 (1), will square off with tough Tanzanian veteran Obote “The Thunder” Ameme, 38-14-2 (27), in a six rounder at super featherweight.
As something new, trainer Brian Mathiasen moved his two charges outside his high-tech gym on Sunday for a bit of “old-school” training in the backyard.
The question is if this is some kind of omen for what lays ahead for the two Danes when they attempt to invade Germany on July 11?
Will they be part of a couple of “backyard-brawl” type of fights?
Manager Henrik Risum wouldn’t go as far as saying that this will be the case, but at the same time he won’t rule anything out.
“A wild-swinging, head-first, take-two-to-give-one-style is not what Brian teaches his boxers, but of course in tough and difficult fights like these the guys must be ready for anything in order to win the fights," said Risum.
"Stieglitz is a world-class technician and I doubt he will come to brawl, but Ameme might be looking to take Kim out of his stride with some serious rough-housing. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out on Friday”
.
Nasir vs. Stieglitz at the Rundturnhalle in Cuxhaven will be aired live on German Sports channel DSF.
