Risum Boxing’s undefeated welterweight “Jesse” James Kimori, 8-0 (5), will take on experienced journeyman Ken Oyolo, 3-14-3 (1), in a bout made at light middleweight on July 19 at the WAB Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. The show will be promoted by Sparks Pro-Boxing Promotions.
Oyolo has boxed as high as super middleweight recently, and went the distance with another Risum Boxing-managed Kenyan, Samson Onyango, just two months ago at that weight. Kimori moves up to light middle as a one-off thing in order to get a local opponent who can test him.
“It’s not easy to get opponents for James in Kenya anymore, so we can’t be picky," said Risum. "It sounds like a cliché, but lots of guys are really avoiding a fight with James. Oyolo is a very tricky guy, and despite his flawed record he will be a tough opponent who brings an advantage in both experience and physique”.
Kimori last boxed on May 3, winning by fourth round disqualification over Caleb Amianda.20
