After a successful five year relationship, Golden Boy Promotions and former multi-weight world champion Marco Antonio Barrera have amicably agreed to end their association.
Barrera has been released from his promotional contract and has agreed to give up his position as a partner in Golden Boy Promotions.
“Marco is ready to move in new direction with respect to his boxing career,” said President of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar de la Hoya. “We respect him and want to honor his decision to make a change. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to the prospects of working with him again in the future.”
“While I have a great respect for Oscar de la Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions, I have decided that I wanted to take a new path with respect to my boxing career,” said Barrera. “I am pleased that we will move forward as friends.”
Golden Boy Promotions wishes Marco the best with the rest of his Hall of Fame career and is proud to have been a part of it.
