Rising Star Akaash Bhatia Targeting Title Fight

By Boxing Press July 18th, 2008 All Press Releases

Undefeated boxer Akaash "Kash The Bash" Bhatia is one of Britain's top prospects and the red hot featherweight will be in action tonight, Friday, July 18, on the eagerly anticipated bill of Danny Williams vs. John McDermott for the British heavyweight title at Goresbrook Leisure Center in Dagenham, England.

The lightning quick 25 year old has gone through all 11 of his opponents without a loss since turning pro two years ago and the slick stylist from Harrow is being tipped for bigger and better things.

"Bhatia has the potential to become something very special in this sport," said promoter Frank Maloney. "A good win on Friday will see him in a major title fight later this year. He is the only Sikh boxer in Britain and has vowed not to let his legion of dedicated fans down."

The main event in Dagenham features heavyweight Danny Williams defending his British title against determined challenger, John McDermott. The pair weighed in yesterday with Williams scaling 265 lb, or 18 stone 13, while McDermott tipped the bar at an even 18 stone, or 252 lb.

The undercard features a broad range of talent such as bantamweight Tshifhiwa Munyai, light welter Ajose Olusegun, super bantam Sean Hughes, welterweight Chas Symonds, super featherweight Gary Sykes, heavyweight Scott Belshaw and welterweight Scott Woolford.

Frank Maloney Promotions presents "Collision Course", the British heavyweight title fight between Danny Williams and John McDermott with full undercard on Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Goresbrook Leisure Center in Dagenham, England.

Tickets are priced at £85 and £45 and are available by logging onto www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office at 0871 226 1508.

Sky Sports will televise live on SS1 at 10PM.
