Jill Diamond: How have you been preparing for the fight?
Akondaye Fountain: This has been a long and hard training camp, with the dates changing back and forth I never broke training camp. I had great sparring with top female and male fighters, Valerie Mahfood being one of them, whom is fighting Christy Martin July 18th. Many rounds of trying to perfect my craft, strength and conditioning training and many miles of running, stair climbing and swimming.
JD: What is your assessment of your opponent?
AF: My opponent is a good boxers and I'm sure will come in to this fight in great shape.
JD: What does fighting for the WBC World Title mean to you?
AF: Fighting for the WBC is what it's all about. I started out with the goal of becoming world champion, one of the best female fighters of all time and this is my opportunity.
JD: Is there anything you’d like your fans to know about you?
AF: I would like my fans to know that I've trained hard and ready for this opportunity. It will be an exciting fight and most of all, Thanks for their support.
JD: Who's on your team?
AF: My team consists of Ronnie Shields, Hylon "Cedric" Williams, Brian Caldwell, however accompanying me on this trip will be Jarvis "Jay Johns and Gary Simon.
