Margarito is in his final days of preparation for “The Battle!”, the four-bout pay-per-view extravaganza headlined by Margarito’s world title rumble with WBA Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto, in a battle of legendary 147 pound superpowers. The bout marks the first time that Cotto has faced a reigning world champion, as he acquired both his belts, the WBO Light Welter and WBA Welter, in vacant title bouts against the likes of Kelson Pinto and Carlos Quintana. Margarito has faced two reigning champions over three bouts: Kermit Cintron and Daniel Santos (twice), winning one, losing one and drawing in the third. Promoted by Top Rank, “The Battle!” will take place Saturday, July 26, at the MGM Grand Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Margarito, 36-5 (26), from Tijuana, Mexico, is 9-1 in world welterweight championship bouts.
