On Thursday night, PJ Rowson and Errol Johnson of First Team Promotions hosted their last ʽshowʼ of the season at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in West Midlands, England.

Popular West Bromwich boxer Young Mutley, headlined the show but there was a full undercard which made for another entertaining night of boxing.

Martin Gordon (Dudley) vs. Chris Thompson (Leeds)
4 x 2 Welterweight Contest

Despite landing a number of straight lefts and, sometimes - wild swinging left shots - the Dudley man had a tough contest against the taller Thompson and it seemed fair that it ended in a draw. At the end of the bout, the Leeds man asked that the contest be dedicated to his late grandparents.

Gordon's record now stands at 5 losses and 2 draws. Thompson moves to 3 losses and 1 draw.

Scott Evans (Stourbridge) vs. Peter Buckley (Birmingham)
4 x 2 Light Welterweight Contest

Evans - sporting a bleached blonde Mohican hair do - notched up his fifth win when he faced ʽworkhorseʼ Buckley in an action-packed contest. Buckley, 19 years older than his opponent, put up a great effort against the younger Stourbridge man. Despite a good defence from Evans - Buckley managed to land through the middle with some good lefts and rights, but the younger man gave the sharper performance securing a 40-36 points win.

Evans improves to a perfect 5 and 0

Kevin McCauley (Stourbridge) vs. Steve Cooper (Worcester)
4 x 2 Light Welterweight Contest

Despite a peach of an uppercut from Cooper in the closing seconds of the final round - McCauley gained his first win by points decision and improves to 1 win and 1 loss.

Neil Perkins (Birmingham) vs. Howard Daley (Preston)
4 x 3 Heavyweight Contest

Daley - the Boxing Policeman - had a difficult contest against Brummy Perkins. Starting off slow - taller Daley looked frustrated. Perkins piled in some big body-shots early on and in round three Daley is under pressure from a barrage of shots. Daley never looked comfortable and despite his efforts, looked messy against Perkins.

Round four sees Daley ʽwind-upʼ a big punch which missed its mark much to the amusement of the crowds so Perkins responds with a bit of showboating. Perkins dominated the fight to gain a points win.

Perkins improves to a perfect 3 out of 3

Jamie Ball (Dudley) vs. Peter Dunn (Pontefract)
4 x 2 Middleweight Contest

Popular ʽBullyʼ scored a points win over Pontefractsʼ ʽDesperateʼ Dunn. Southpaw Ball notched up his second professional win with no losses.

James Mulhern (Coventry) vs. David Keogan (Birkenhead)
4 x 2 Flyweight Contest

Making his pro-debut - Mulhern was clearly enjoying the crowd support as he faced Keogan. But it wasnʼt going to be an easy ride for Mulhern who was caught by the left and right punches of Keogan. A swelling which appeared around Mulherns right eye in Round two - developed in to two cuts - one above and one below the eye in round three.

Undeterred, Mulhern keeps up the pace and wins by points decision 40-37

Joe Skeldon (Tipton) vs. Jason Smith (Barnsley)
6 x 2 Super Middleweight Contest

There was big support for ʽSkellyʼ as he stepped out for his fourth pro-fight. But within seconds of the opening bell, the Tipton man was on the canvas. Re-composing himself, Skelly put up a good fight against the taller Barnsley man and clearly ʽhurtʼ him in round five. A bad cut to the left eye of Smith forced a stoppage in the sixth and final round.

Skeldon improves to 2 wins and 2 losses.
