Just three months after Sergio Mora upset the massively favored reigning champion Vernon Forrest to win the IBF Super Welterweight title, the pair will once again don the gloves in a rematch on Saturday, September 13 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Forrest has vowed to regain his title but the bigger, younger Mora is just as confident of retaining his newly minted crown as well as the elusive respect he finally achieved by defeating Forrest.
Both men will come face to face for the first time since their riveting initial bad-blood encounter when they meet at a Los Angeles press conference tomorrow.
Mora vs. Forrest II is the 12 round super welterweight co-featured bout to the highly anticipated Joel Casamayor vs. Juan Manuel Marquez showdown.
The fight is presented by Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Tournament of Contenders, Gary Shaw Productions and Fight Knight, LLC.
Casamayor vs. Marquez, “The Challenge”, a 12- ound bout for Casamayor’s Ring Magazine World Lightweight Championship, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Romanza Boxing and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, Cazadores Tequila and Southwest Airlines.
The world title bout will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
