Othello’s Welterweight boxing prospect, David Torres will fight tough journeyman Cesar Vega (6-4) on Friday, February 25th at the Emerald Queen Casino’s “Battle at the Boat XXXV” boxing series. Torres, the undefeated Latino sensation (7-0, 5KO’s) will fight the semi-main event at the Emerald Queen with the first fight starting at eight pm. “David is on the fast track” says promoter Brian Halquist. “This is his second fight of the year and we hope by year’s end, David will have nine more wins.” So far, Torres has claimed victory over two undefeated fighters, Derek Moon (then 3-0, 1KO) and David Hernendez (then 3-0 1KO) in back-to-back fights. What does crowd favorite, Torres think of his rapidly growing fame? “I’m overwhelmed by the support the Hispanic community has shown for me, and I’ll be sure to give them a fight they won’t forget!” says Torres.
