King’s Boxing Promotions Puts On Show In Reading September 13

By Boxing Press August 13th, 2008 All Press Releases

Professional ballroom-style boxing returns to The Riveredge Hotel and Restaurant complex in Reading, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 13 with an exciting lineup of rising young boxing prospects.

The main event will feature undefeated Reading heavyweight Travis "GW Hope" Kauffman, 12-0 (9), against Josh "Griz" Gutcher, 18-9, of Iowa in a eight round bout. After a fourteen month layoff, Kauffman returned to the ring in June and has scored two knockouts since then, both within two rounds. He plans to resume his climb up the heavyweight rankings.

The night's eight round co-feature will pit Reading's Keenan Collins, 12-4-1, against Joshua Onyango, 14-15-1, of New Jersey. Collins hopes to get back on track after a stunning first round KO loss to Doel Carrasquillo last November.

Also scheduled for a six round cruiserweight bout will be Julio Cesar Mathews, 4-0, versus Chris Stallworth, 9-1, of Pittsburgh. Stallworth is the nephew of Steeler's Hall of Famer John Stallworth.

Featherweight Lucian Gonzalez, 6-4-1, will face an opponent yet to be determined in a six rounder and Jose Martinez will make his pro debut against Esteban Rodriquez, 2-1 in welterweight action. Also making his pro debut will be Philadelphia heavyweight Joey Dawejko, who has won five national tournaments as an amateur.

Doors open at 6:45pm; fights start at 7:30pm. The Riveredge is located on Route 183 North, just20south of the Reading Airport. Tickets are priced at $60.00 ringside and $30.00 general admission. A very limited number of VIP tickets are available at $100.00. Tickets are available at The Riveredge (610-376-6711), Kauffman's Interiors (610-375-4915), or at the door.
