Last night at the Avalon in Hollywood, California, super bantamweight contender Daniel Ponce De Leon was stunned by little-known Celestino Caballero. Caballero boxed mainly from the outside but did considerable damage to the hard-hitting De Leon who found infrequent success with his less-organized, swinging punches. When it was all said and done, Caballero walked away with the decision and becomes the first to defeat De Leon. Caballero also becomes the number one contender for the IBF superbantamweight title.
In the chief-support bout, Jhonny Gonzalez dominated the bantamweight meeting between himself and Adan Vargas. With the win, Gonzalez preserves his long win streak and becomes the WBC's number one bantamweight title. contender.
Stay tuned for more results from the U.S. tonight.
