After a long reflection and several discussions with business partner Mr. Jean Bedard and trainer Stephan Larouche, former WBC World champion and InterBox President Eric Lucas, 38-7-3 (14), is considering a return to the ring.
Eric Lucas has the best intentions in mind, but is fully aware that he has to fulfill two critical conditions before officially announcing a return. The first step is for Eric to undergo medical testing, and the second is for him to participate in sparring sessions to test his reflexes and physical capacity in combat situations.
Once all results are in, Eric will take a final decision regarding a possible comback in collaboration with his trainer Stephan Larouche.
"I still have the fire inside me to compete, and the desire to win," said Lucas. "I have been training more seriously now for three months and feel like I am in great shape. If everything goes according to plan, then my return will be for a significant fight."
"Eric is serious and determined in this endeavor, and is surrounded by good people at InterBox who will give him all the support he needs," mentions President of Groupe Sportscene Inc., Mr. Jean Bedard.
"A plan has been established, and a short list of possible opponents have been identified. The final decision will reflect the best interests of all parties"
Eric Lucas is 37 years old, and is considered a pioneer in the resurgence of boxing throughout Quebec. Shortly after he captured his first world title, boxing gyms throughout Quebec became very popular among the youngsters.
Lucas' boxing career was followed attentively by millions of fans. His last fight was a bravely disputed 10 round loss to former WBC and WBA unified champion, Mikkel Kessler, on January 14, 2006.
