Klitschko’s Honored.

By Boxing Press February 18th, 2005 All Boxing News, Press Releases

“ For their dedicated work in and out of the ring, the Klitschko Brothers have received "The Golden Camera," the most famous Media Award in Europe. Vitali, the World Boxing Council and RING magazine heavyweight champion, and younger brother Wladimir, a former World Boxing Organization heavyweight champ, were in attendance to accept the coveted award at a gala ceremony in Berlin, Germany. The popular, well-respected role models were honored not only for their success in boxing, but for their support and involvement of the democratic movement in their native Ukraine.

"We are both very proud to get an award of this stature and prestige,'' Vitali said. "We do things because we want to and because we care. To be recognized for what we do is really an outstanding honor. We are both very appreciative."

"This kind of award will only make us work harder with UNESCO and the 'Children In Need' program we are deeply involved in, and with our commitment to helping the democratic way hopefully continue to progress in the Ukraine," Wladimir said.

Others honored this year with "The Golden Camera" were Bryan Adams, Tina Turner, Roger Federer, Dustin Hoffman, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis and Jerry Lewis. All were in attendance in Berlin.

Past winners of "The Golden Camera" since its inception 40 years ago include: Jack Nicholson, George Clooney, Boris Becker, Steffi Graf, Pele, Michael Schumacher, Pope John Paul II, Greenpeace, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Spielberg, Sylvester Stallone, Placido Domingo, Leonard Bernstein, Sir Peter Ustinov, Chaim Herzog, President of Israel, Teddy Kolleck, Mayor of Jerusalem and Neil Armstrong.
