Liverpudlian David Price faced Lithuanian Jaroslav Jaksto in the super heavyweight quarter-final this week at Worker's Gymnasium at the Beijing Olympics.
A relaxed Price - who lost to Jaroslav four years ago - scored the first point with a left and moments later notched up a second.
Jaksto hobbled off at the end of round one, having gone 3-1 down. Looking in some distress with his left leg - the Lithuanian was hesitant in coming out for the second round and having briefly seen the ringside doctor, he bowed out of the contest.
Now guaranteed at least a bronze medal - Price told BBC presenters it wasn’t how he’d liked the bout to have ended but said, ’I’m not complaining!’
Price will now go on to fight Italy's Roberto Cammarelle in the semi-finals on Friday.
Cammarelle will give up five inches in height to the 6'8 tall Price, but the 28 year old from Milan, Italy won Bronze in Athens at the 2004 Olympics and won the 2007 World Championships in Chicago.
