Multi-weight former world champion Oscar De La Hoya is scheduled to make a major announcement today regarding his immediate future in the sport.
The 35 year old boxer has become one of the world's top promoters over the last five years and had previously said that he will not fight past 2008.
Most expect the "Golden Boy" to announce that he will face WBC Lightweight Champion Manny Paquiao on December 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Paquiao has never fought above 134.5 lb in a career that began at 106 lb in 1995, while De La Hoya most recently scaled 150 lb, his lowest weight since 2001, during his bout with former IBF Super Feather Champ Steve Forbes in May.
But, De La Hoya may want a bigger challenge for his career ending bout and fighters such as Antonio Margarito, Winky Wright, Daniel Santos and Paul Williams could be possible opponents.
Rematches with Felix Trinidad or Floyd Mayweather could also take place on December 6.
