Last night at the Casino in Rama, Ontario, IBF Super Bantam titlist Steve Molitor retained his crown for the fifth time when he stopped WBC Latino titlist Ceferino Dario Labarda in the tenth round.
In a battle of southpaws, Molitor proved to have more in the tank as he pulled away from the Argentine visitor in the later rounds after the early going was fairly close.
With the win, the 28 year old "Canadian Kid" run his record to 28-0 (11) and edges ever closer to a lucrative unification match.
Fighting for the first time outside of Argentina, 27 year old Labarda suffers his first career loss to drop to 18-1 (7).
Molitor's top domestic competition, NABA Super Bantam titlist Olivier Lontchi, 16-0-2 (6), drew with Eduardo Garcia, 18-5-1 (7), after ten rounds of combat.
Another NABA titlist, super featherweight Benoit Gaudet, 18-1 (7), outpointed Alejandro Berrera, 18-2 (12), after ten rounds.
