Showtime Boxing: Tarver’s IBF Title At Risk Against Dawson

By Boxing Press September 4th, 2008 All Press Releases

It’s finally official. Antonio “Magic Man” Tarver’s, 27-4 (19), IBF Light Heavyweight belt will be on the line when he battles “Bad” Chad Dawson, 26-0 (17) on Saturday, October 11 live on Showtime Championship Boxing at 9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast, from The Pearl Theatre at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

The announcement came at Wednesday’s Los Angeles press conference where both fighters addressed the media.

As an added bonus to fans in attendance at The Pearl Theatre, the Showtime telecast of WBC Heavyweight Champion Samuel Peter vs. come backing Vitali Klitschko will be fed to the arena’s big screens at 6 p.m. PT.

Immediately following the bout, Tarver and Dawson will make their way to the ring for their live fight. Thus, ticket holders at the Palms can enjoy the same blockbuster doubleheader of world championship boxing as the Showtime viewers.

Note: The Pearl Theatre will receive the East Coast feed of Peter vs. Klitschko and therefore see the heavyweight fight three hours prior to the West Coast Showtime households, which begins at 9 p.m. PT.

The Palms Race and Sports Book has established Dawson as a 240 favorite with Tarver being a +190 underdog. The round prop wager is set at 11 ½ rounds with the goes at 240 and the doesn’t at +190.

The Palms Race and Sports Book has established Vitali Klitschko as a 125 favorite with Sam Peter being a +105 underdog. The round prop wager is set at 9 ½ with the goes at -150 and the doesn’t go at +130.

Tickets for Tarver-Dawson go on sale Saturday.
