The new boxing season kicks off at the Kings Hall, Stoke on September 13 when local promoters Impact Boxing host their latest event. The city's leading professional, Scott Lawton, will head the bill and will be joined by local welterweights Scott Miller and Jimmy Doherty, heavyweight Alex Ibbs completes the local contingent. Chester boxers Chris Goodwin, Omar Gumati and Paul Economides make up the remainder of the remainder of the seven fight card.
Lawton, who is hoping to mount a new challenge for the British lightweight title, has been matched with Torquay's Ali Wyatt. Wyatt, with a record of 4-6-2 (3), should present few problems for the experienced and skillful Lawton however.
Prospect Scott Miller has now won all five his professional bouts to date and will next face Tanzanian debutant Said Ally. Miller is quickly aquiring a reputation as an exciting fighter and with the African likely to want to make a good impression on his first outing this bout could prove to be the hightlight of the evening's proceedings.
Local favourite Jimmy Doherty will contend with Yorkshire southpaw Tye Williams. After suffering his first defeat last time out Doherty will be keen to return to winning ways. Alex Ibbs faces fellow novice Steve Bodger.
Chris Goodwin will tee off against veteran Karl Taylor; Omar Gumati faces the very experienced Peter Dunn and Paul Economides will hope to mainatin his winning streak against Tony McQuade.
