From WBC President Jose Sulaiman:
"The World Boxing Council, its President and Board of Governors, and its 164 affiliated nations extend our deepest and most sincere sympathy to all those families of the United States and the world who were hurt by the tragic deaths of so many innocent people at the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001.
"This inhuman sacrifice shall stand forever as a signal for humankind against violence and crime, and for our struggle for peace and goodwill among people of all races of the world.
"The WBC's 46th annual convention, to be celebrated November 2-8 in Chengdu, China, will include an excellent professional boxing show that will set the foundations of professional boxing in that country, which has a population of 1.3 billion - 20 percent of the world's total population.
"More than 100 ring officials of the countries affiliated with the WBC have made already their reservations to attend. They will be sorted out for the appointment of judges and referees for the day of this great professional boxing card."
