Citing dehydration, Joan Guzman pulled out of his challenge to triple world lightweight champion Nate Cambell, but the show still went on at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS.
Upgraded to the headlining bout, light welter Timothy Bradley, 23-0 (11), didn't disappoint, pounding out a big win against Edner Cherry, 24-6-2 (12), to retain the WBC Light Welterweight title.
Bradley showed good skill in outclassing Cherry, dropping the Florida based lightweight in the eighth before cruising to a 119-109, 118-109 and 117-110 unanimous decision win.
Cherry came to fight and had his moments, rattling Bradley on more than one occasion but didn't have enough pop in the punches to improve upon his work.
In a WBC featherweight title eliminator, Elio Rojas, 20-1 (13), shed the prospect tag by posting a wide points decision against seasoned veteran Hector Velazquez, 50-12-2 (35).
Light middleweight Luca Messi, 33-7-1 (11), won an eight rounder against Anthony Bowman, 9-31-2 (2), and lightweight Anges Adjaho, 24-1 (14), won a fifth round technical decision against Jesus Salvador Perez, 25-21-3 (14).
