Despite knowing he will not be able to resume his boxing career as soon as he would like due to a broken hand, Junior Witter has plenty to celebrate. The source of Witter's celebrations lay in the fact that he has been signed up for a three fight deal with fighter/promoter Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. The pact is a huge payoff for Witter's years of persistence since losing to Zab Judah four years ago, his only loss to date. In a prelude to last night's Hopkins-Eastman main event, Witter dropped Lovemore N'dou twice, something not even Miguel Cotto could do before surviving a late assault from the tough Australian. Witter, from Bradford in England certainly impressed his future promoter and will likely return to the United States to conquer again. De La Hoya has already mentioned a fight with WBC champion Arturo Gatti for Witter as it seems unlikely that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be available to fight Gatti. Stay tuned for more details as they happen.
