Boxing In Philadelphia: Yusaf Mack Back In Action September 26

By Boxing Press September 20th, 2008 All Press Releases

On the 26th September the National Guard Armory, in Philadelphia, holds host to not one but two potentially explosive title fights. In the main event revitalised Philadelphian light heavyweight Yusaf Mack returns to the ring for the 3rd time in 5 months, he will be defending his NABA title which he recently acquired from Daniel Judah, against fellow Philly fight Omar Pitman.

Mack now ranked number 9 in the WBA is desperate to prove that his former losses were down to dehydration and bad preparation, he has set his goals high and feels he has all the tools to make it to the top. Pitman on the other hand is desperate to prove he can still mix it with the top dogs, and where better than in front of a home crowd. His last outing ended a 7 fight unbeaten run when he almost managed to pull off an upset against the undefeated prospect Jean Pascall who has gone on to secure a WBC title shot.

Pitman has Pascal in deep trouble when one of his trade mark left hooks landed on the button, however Pascal survived and limped to a points victory. This bout is scheduled for 10 rounds and both men will be coming to fight and to win so expect a few fireworks.

In the supporting bout for the vacant USBA regional title local boy Derek Ennis takes on his biggest challenge to date, he is on a 3 fight winning run and will be eager to impress since his last fight in his home town of Philadelphia ended in defeat. His opponent is also looking to turn things around Troy Browning was expecting to go onto bigger and better things after beating Julio Cesar Garcia in June 07, but he fell short when taking on tough prospects Pawel Wolak and Delvin Rodriguez in his last two outings, he didn't disgrace and took both men the distance he just didn't do enough to get the wins.

Now he will be looking to rescuer his ranking and take the regional belts back to New Jersey. The under card will be packed with up and coming Philly kids looking to make their mark on the big scene, it is not a show to be missed
