New England’s favorite son Demetrius Andrade, a 2008 U.S. Olympian and reigning World Amateur Champion, will host a news conference luncheon homecoming with his promoters Joe DeGuardia and Art Pelullo of Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, respectively, tomorrow to announce his highly- anticipated professional boxing debut, which will be televised nationally.
Andrade, 20, from Providence, the No. 1 professional prospect from this year’s U.S. Olympic team, was a quarterfinalist at the Beijing games. The two-time Golden Gloves Champion and two-time National Champion captured the World Championship in 2007, the first American to do so since 1999.
