Cristobal Cruz will square off against Orlando Salido on October 23 at Northern Quest Casino for the vacant IBF featherweight championship of the world.
Demetrius Andrade, the 2007 Amateur World Champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian, will make his professional debut in the junior middleweight division at 154 pounds and open the nationally televised event at 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time. Andrade is the #1 amateur fighter in the world from the United States.
Maxim Vlasov, one of the top undefeated super middleweight prospects in the world, will be in the co-feature bout versus Don Mouton.
Presented by Banner Promotions and Golden Gloves in association with Northern Quest Casino, the main event, co-feature and opening bouts will be televised nationally on the Versus network.
Cruz, 36-11-1 (23), fighting out of Tijuana, Mexico, will put his record on the line against Salido, 31-9-2 (20), of Sonora, Mexico in the 12-round main event. Salido is the IBF's number two ranked contender; Cruz is ranked third.
During his most recent fight last March, Cruz, 31, upset highly touted South African fighter Thomas Mashaba in a bitter and hard-fought majority decision. According to the CompuBox punch record, Cruz threw an astonishing 1,580 punches or an average of 131 punches per round.
Salido, 27, made his professional boxing debut at age 15 and is 8-0 with one no-decision in his last nine boxing matches. He has fought former world champions Robert Guerrero,
Cesar Soto, Juan Manuel Marquez, Alfred Kotey, Alejandro Gonzalez and Regilio Tuur, plus a number of ranked contenders.
The event in the Pend Oreille Pavilion is for guests 18 and older.
