Risum Boxing: Kim “Golden Boy” Poulsen Returns To London As A Lightweight

By Boxing Press October 29th, 2008 All Press Releases

It’s been a frustrating time for manager Henrik Risum, as securing the next fight for lightweight Kim Poulsen, 9-1, under the right conditions have proven more troublesome than usual. Since it became clear that the fall-schedule laid out earlier in the year wouldn’t be possible when a promoter failed to live up to a signed deal with Risum Boxing, Risum has been working hard to work out an alternative route.

Now it is set that Poulsen will fight an opponent still to be decided on November 26 at the Café Royal in London, England, on a black-tie dinner-show promoted by Mickey Helliet’s Mayfair Sporting Club.

“Kim has boxed on Mickey’s promotions in London four times previously, and we really like the atmosphere of the shows and the whole city, so it will be a pleasure going back and we really want to thank Mickey for having us again," says Risum. "Kim is very hungry after his break following his fight in July, so we all expect a good performance from him on the 26th”.

The opponent for Poulsen is not confirmed yet, as Helliet and Risum are working on finding the right boxer to give Poulsen a suitable challenge.

In the meantime, the 21-year-old Dane will continue to prepare for his debut as an outright lightweight with trainer Brian Mathiasen, and Poulsen is feeling good ahead of what will be his eleventh professional outing

“I have been extra anxious to fight the last month or so, and the date and venue has changed a few times, so obviously it was good to get the final date and place even though I have known for a while that I will fight in November," says Poulsen.

"I feel great, and I expect to have a good run-up to the fight as usual with good training and sparring, and I plan give a good performance in London. I love boxing at the Café Royal, the atmosphere is very special there, so I can’t wait”.
