Ex-IBF Light Heavyweight title challenger John Scully will put on a boxing show in Middletown, CT tonight featuring some of the top amateur boxers in the New England area,
Former NABF Super Middleweight Champion Scott Pemberton and former two-time WBA Champion Jose Antonio "El Gallo" Rivera will attend and help in handing out trophies. Also slated to attend are 1996 U.S. Olympian Lawrence Clay-Bey, former NABF lightweight champion Pito Cardona, former IBO super bantamweight champion Mike Oliver and possibly two-time former welterweight champion and 1984 Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Breland.
Former New York City Golden Gloves Champion and lightweight contender Brian Adams will also appear as will, possibly, Manchester's unbeaten featherweight, Matt "Sharpshooter" Remillard
tickets are just $15 for ringside and $10 for general admission. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a plaque commemorating Johnny Duke and his more than forty years of training boxers at the Bellevue Square Boys Club in Hartford, Connecticut.
The plaque will be permanently affixed to the brick wall that now lines the site of the former gym. Duke trained many notable Hartford area boxers, most notably future two-time welterweight world champion Marlon Starling.
Bouts will be held at the spectacular new facility, Lion's Den Gym, at 1385 Newfield St. in Middletown, CT
