Mitchell Belfast Bound.

By Boxing Press March 2nd, 2005 All Boxing News, Press Releases

Hot London prospect Kevin Mitchell has thrown down a challenge to rival super-featherweight Kevin O'Hara ahead of his Belfast debut on March 18 at the Kings Hall on the Joe Calzaghe-Brian Magee World Super-Middleweight Championship undercard. Mighty Mitchell features in a six-round International contest against an opponent to be confirmed whilst Ohara gets the chance for revenge over the man who inflicted the only loss on his record - Choi Tseveennpurev. But unbeaten Mitchell is eying a big return to Belfast with the aim of taking on 'Sweet Pea' Ohara. The brash youngster from Dagenham stormed, "I would smash O'Hara to bits and I would be happy to return to Belfast and fight him if he didn't fancy it in London,"

"I've seen him a fight a few times and one of those was in London and I think he's a good kid,"

"A fight against him would really get me hyped up because I see O'Hara as a test and I want to test myself against him. I'd show him what real power is all about,"

"I'm hoping that it's a fight that we can get on because I love challenges and when the pressure is really on me. It is then that I really perform and you will see the best of me."

Mitchell is the hottest young professional talent in Britain today.

He won the 2003 ABA Senior Featherweight Title on his first attempt becoming the one of the youngest ever winners.

Since then, the 20-year-old has cut through 12 opponents with his flashy power-punching style, knocking-out nine with six of them coming inside the first round.

He added, "I'm looking forward to fighting at the Kings Hall where Barry McGuigan, one of my idols, has boxed,"

"There are three arenas that I really want to fight at during my career: The York Hall, which I have already done, The Royal Albert Hall, which I have yet to do, and the Kings Hall where I am next,"

"All of them are historic arenas where the best boxers have fought and I want to follow them."

Calzaghe-Magee headlines a sensational fight card that brings big-time World Championship boxing back to Belfast.

The show features the amazing return of Eamonn Magee who defends his WBU World Welterweight title against Denmark's Allan Vester.

A quality-packed undercard features Belfast best fighters and young prospects: Former British Welterweight Champion Neil Sinclair, heavyweight Martin Rogan, welterweight's Paul McClosky and Stephen Hauglan, lightweight Andrew Murray and Dublin middleweight Jim Rock.
