Four-time world champion Carina "La Reina" Moreno, 20-1 (6), has a new opponent for her scheduled February 5, 2009 date at the Tachi Palace Casino in Lemoore Ca.
Two-time world champion Wendy Rodriguez was originally slated to face Moreno, but had to pull out due to an injury. The Watsonville native will now face Sharon Gaines, 11-11-1 (3), in an eight round non-title bout at a catch weigh of 110 lb.
"It's disappointing that I wont be able to fight Wendy Rodriguez," said Moreno, "I was really looking forward to that bout. She's the only person that's put a blemish on my record and I wanted to avenge that loss.
"That's the way things go sometimes in boxing. I'll now shift all my focus on Gaines and what she brings to the ring."
Moreno will look to extend on her twelve fight winning streak when she faces Gaines on fight night. Goossen Tutor Promotions in association with the Tachi Palace Casino bring the action. For ticket information call the Tachi Palace Box Office at (559) 924-7751 or the Tickets.com call center at 1(800) 225-2277.
