8 Count Boxing Moves Into New Venue UIC Pavilion

By Boxing Press March 14th, 2009 All Press Releases

Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions held an open house for fans and media on Thursday night at their new home, the UIC Pavilion in downtown Chicago.

Starting his 12th year as a promoter, Pesoli was thrilled to announce the long term agreement the UIC Pavilion to present “world class boxing in a world class venue in a world class city”.

Fans and media were treated to a viewing of the outstanding preview video for the main event, which takes place at UIC Pavilion on March 27, a terrific middleweight Chicago showdown between “Macho” Miguel Hernandez and Luciano “EL Michoacano” Perez.

Along with the main eventers, undercard fighters Rita Figueroa, Henry Coyle and Andrzej Fonfara were also present.

Quotes from the press conference;

Dominic Pesoli:”We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to our new home. The entire team here at the UIC Pavilion has been very supportive and we’re looking forward to a long and very successful partnership.

“Miguel and Luciano have wanted to fight each other for years and fans should be treated to an excellent battle”

Kevin O’Finn, UIC Pavilion GM: ”Dominic and I have talked about doing this for a while and we’re very happy to work with 8 Count and welcome them to the UIC Pavilion as their new home.”

Miguel Hernandez: ”This is the fight everyone has wanted to see. I’m in great shape and will make weight without a problem. Nothing personal against Luciano but on March 27th, I plan on a convincing victory.”

Luciano Perez: ”I’ve fought in many big fights against terrific fighters. On March 27th, I’m confident that whatever he brings to the ring I will be able to deal with and beat him.”

Rita Figueroa: ”I’ve been off for a bit but I’m thrilled to be fighting on this card at this terrific venue.”

Henry Coyle: ”I’m looking forward to fighting in the new arena and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone.”

Andrzej Fonfara: This is a great venue and I’m sure there will a large crowd of Chicago fight fans here on March 27th."

Two of Chicago’s proudest warriors, “Macho” Miguel Hernandez and Luciano “El Gallo Michoacano” Perez will battle in the main event at the inaugural “Windy City Fight Night” on Friday, March 27 at the UIC Pavilion, presented by Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions.

Advance tickets, starting at $30, for “Windy City Fight Night” are now on sale through the UIC Pavilion Box Office (312-413-5740) and through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com).

The UIC Pavilion is located at 525 S. Racine, at the corner of Harrison and Racine in the West Loop area of Chicago . Doors on the evening of the event will open at 7pm with the first bell at 8pm.
