| Tonight in Germany, the news came that Markus Beyer, the three time WBC super middleweight champion of the world retained his title over game Australian challenger Danny Green. Green came to the fight as the interim champion, aiming to avenge a controversial disqualification loss to Beyer. |

There was no controversy this time though, as Green found himself on the wrong end of Beyer's boxing skills while being unable to assert his aggressive work until late in the fight. Beyer was on shaky ground in the late rounds but it all came far too late for Green who lost his second title bid by a razor thin margin on two cards, even managing a draw on one scorecard. Final scores were 115-112, 114-114 and 114-113.
