Risum Boxing announced today the opponent for lightweight prospect Kim Poulsen on April 5 in Berlin, Germany. The 22-year-old from Horsens, Denmark will take on local journeyman Tom Pudler over six rounds.
Pudler brings a less than impressive record of 1-7, but manager Henrik Risum still feels it is a meaningful fight for the 10-1 Dane, saying: “I am well aware that many will criticize me for allowing this opponent, and luckily my shoulders are broad enough for that.
"And, besides considering the small budget, I do think Kim will benefit from beating Pudler experience-wise as he will try what it feels like to fight in an opponent’s hometown. Pudler is from Berlin, and Kim will definitely have the crowd against him. I want him to know what that’s like.
“I expect Kim to win of course, but I have seen Pudler fight on several occasions and I don’t think it will be as easy as one might think. If Kim underestimates him, he could have a very tough night in front of him. It’s always a risk fighting a German in Germany, and Kim can’t allow the fight to be close.”
The show at the Universal Hall in Berlin will be promoted by Amadun Boxing.
