European Boxing News: Abraham, Lorenzo, Pavlik, Aydin, Ouali, Petranyi

By Boxing Press March 31st, 2009 All Press Releases

By Per Ake Persson

German tabloid Bild Zeitung wrote Sunday that IBF middleweight champ Arthur Abraham will fight mandatory challenger Giovanni Lorenzo on June 27 in Germany.

Bild then writes that should all go well for Abraham, he will then take on WBC and WBO king Kelly Pavlik on November 17 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Manager Wilfried Sauerland is quoted as saying that "we are in intense, good negotiations". Trainer UIlli Wegner points out that "King" Arthur needs to watch his diet a lot closer than last time out when he struggled against LaJuan Simon, which was written down to losing eight kilos in the last two weeks leading up to the fight.

Arena Box Promotion´s Turkish welter Selcuk Aydin makes his US debut on April 17 in Primm, Nevada, against Said Ouali in what is a defence of the WBC International title. Aydin is already in Nevada training under Graciano Rocchigiani.

Hungarian promoter, manager, agent and sometimes still fighter Zoltan Petranyi stages a big free entrance show at the Gilda-Max Gym in Budapest on April 1. It´s mainly a no-name show, giving many decent journeymen a chance for a win in front of a homecrowd.
