Super Channel Boxing: Carl Froch Workout Quotes

By Boxing Press April 17th, 2009 All Press Releases

Super Channel, Hennessy Sports, and Showtime Championship Boxing are proud to bring Canadian fight fans one of the most compelling match-ups of the year, as undefeated WBC Super Middleweight Champion Carl “The Cobra” Froch makes the first defence of his title taking on former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor, live from the MGM Grand Foxwods, on Saturday April 25.

It all gets underway at 9 p.m. ET, exclusively in Canada on Super Channel, in vibrant HD.

Earlier this week, Froch, 24-0 (19), worked out in Toronto in front of dozens of members of the media.

Here’s what the WBC Super Middleweight Champion, who hails from Nottingham, England, had to say.

Question: How was it having former opponent Jean Pascal in your training camp?

Carl Froch: “Jean showed last December that he’s=2 0a world class warrior, and one of the top super middleweights in the world. I’m a better fighter for facing him last year, and I’ll be even better against Taylor having him in my camp.”

Q: How do you feel about Jermain Taylor saying that you're nothing special?

CF: “I guess he has to say stuff like that to get him in a good frame of mind. That’s fine. On April 25th he’ll see how misguided he is. I love when people think I’m not that great on tape. They think I’m slow and awkward. They find out about me in a hurry once they step in to the ring with me.”

Q: What do you think of Taylor fighting at 168 lb?

CF: “I have to say he didn’t look all that impressive against Jeff Lacy. Clearly his best days were at 160 lbs. But on April 25th we’re going to see what he has left. For his sake it had better be more that what we’ve seen out of him lately. The reality is that I’m too big and strong for him.”

Q: You're making your US debut in such a tough fight...=0 A

CF: “This shows how serious I am. That I want to fight true superstars in their primes, and show the world I’m not just a guy who will stay in one spot for an easy payday.

“Joe Calzaghe waited until he was an old man to come over State-side, and then fought two guys who were past it. I want to show the world how it should be done.”
