I have just received word from Ireland that Joe Calzaghe has been pulled out of his scheduled fight with Brian Magee that was set to take place at the King's Hall in Belfast. Promoter Frank Warren took Calzaghe out of the fight when it was discovered that the WBO were not going to sanction the fight as an official world title contest. All this despite the fact that the fight was billed on promotional materials as being for the WBO super middleweight title. The event will go ahead, with Ireland's Eamonn Magee making his return from injury now in the headline slot against Allan Vester. The Calzaghe-Magee fight will be rescheduled for a later date.
