After winning the UBC Lightweight title in Poland in December, David “Silent Danger” Kiilu (30-9-2, 16 KOs) will make another trip to Europe in an attempt to win his fifth championship. He will step back down to his original weightclass, featherweight, and challenge Romanian Viorel Simion (10-0, 4 KOs) for the WBC Mediterranean crown on June 5 in Bucharest
Besides currently holding the UBC lightweight title, Kiilu is a former undefeated Kenyan, East and Central Africa and WBF Intercontinental champion at feather and super feather, and has shown a remarkable willingness to move up and down in weight to get the best possible opportunities.
Simion, who was just barely defeated in the third round of the 2004 Athens Olympics, was a very accomplished amateur, and won the WBC Mediterranean title in only his eight professional bout. He has since made one successful defence, and remains undefeated after mixing in very capable opposition.
The Simion vs. Kiilu fight will be promoted by Gancor Promotions, in cooperation with Risum Boxing, and can be seen free of charge, along with a co-feature between JoJo Dan (Ionut Dan Ion) and Walter Sergio Gomez plus two undercard fights, live via internet-stream on www sport.ro (from 21.15 Central European Time)
