Australian Action Preview: Friday Night Boxing From Red Corner Promotions

Friday night sees a cracking card shaping up in the Brisbane suburb of Red Hill, at the Broncos Leagues Club. Red Corner Promotions puts on the evening’s events, highlighted by three important domestic matchups. Nathan Briggs begins the first of a two step process to win the Australian Heavyweight title this Friday when he meets Kiwi K1 fighter Sio Vitale at the Broncos Leagues Club. Briggs has trained harder than ever before for this opportunity and is leaving nothing to chance. “Vitale will get a taste of what Colin Wilson has in store for him when we meet. I am treating this fight as a chance to show everyone that Nathan Briggs is the force in the Australian Heavyweight division.” said Briggs.

In a much awaited rematch, light welter Chris McCullen is set down for six rounds against Michael “Mad Dog” Rivetti. McCullen took the points in their first encounter but with Rivetti claiming that a dose of the flu limited his abilities that night, this is definitely going to be a tightly fought affair.

Rounding out the six professional fight card will be the main event between featherweights Matt Powell and Robert Oyan. This bout is set down for eight rounds and is expected to be toe to toe from start to finish. Powell, a former Australian title challenger, will not be giving his International opponent any time to settle into his new surrounds. Expect fireworks from the get go!
