British Fireworks! Boxing\’s Esham Pickering and Michael Hunter Go To War

By saddo October 29th, 2005 All Boxing Results

It was British boxing at it's finest last night when European and Commonwealth Champion Esham Pickering and British Champion Michael Hunter collided on a superb Matchroom Promotions card televised by Sky TV. The clash took place in Hartlepool, England's Borough Hall in front of a packed house of Hunter's rabid hometown fans. It was an action packed fight with Pickering surprisingly going on the attack instantly in round one. "Brown Sugar" dropped Hunter with a great left hook midway in the first, but the British Champion beat the count and made it through the round. Hunter was down again in the second from the very same left hook from the European Champion. Despite the knockdowns, Hunter was still fighting back and landing some great shots of his own but the difference was that he couldn't hurt Pickering. More...

On a Sports Network card from the Northern English city of Preston, British Welterweight Champion Michael Jennings had to climb off the canvas to overcome challenger Bradley Pryce over the course of twelve hard fought rounds. It was an exciting fight from start to finish as Jennings started slow, allowing Pryce to capitalise on some flaws in Jennings defence. The Welshman dropped the champion

in the first, but Jennings showed great heart and intelligence by getting his defence up and going into survival mode until his senses returned.

Jennings didn’t look very good on the outside and was losing the long range war until the local hero changed tactics. "The Chorley Lurcher" took over the rest of the fight by being quicker to the punch, scoring with short combinations on the inside during what turned out to be a great war. More...

Scottish Boxing Triumph! Anderson Wins Commonwealth from Okine

By saddo September 30th, 2005 All Boxing Results

In Kirkcaldy, Scotland undefeated Kevin Anderson went into the trenches with one of Ghana's finest and came away with a razor thin split decison victory and the Commonwealth Welterweight title. On a Matchroom promotion, the Tommy Gilmour managed fighter from Buckhaven went to war with beltholder Joshua Okine and it was toe to toe action with very close rounds all the way throught. When the smoke cleared Anderson became the fourth Scottish fighter in history to win the Commonwealth Welterweight crown. Credit goes to both men in a very fast paced fight that was televised live in the UK by Sky Sports.

On the undercard in a scheduled eight round affair, former Commonwealth Super Feather titlist Craig Docherty kept his cool in the face of an all gun blazing strategy from John Mackay. The Glasgow man patiently bided his time behind great defense but unleashed a nice combination in the seventh round that forced the referee to stop the bout with Mackay still on his feet. Moore Takes Out Walker in Four

By saddo September 23rd, 2005 All Boxing Results

Jamie Moore retained his British Light Middle crown tonight in Manchester by stopping London slugger David Walker in four torrid rounds. By the third Moore was showing his class and canvassed Walker at the end of the round. Again Walker was on the floor in the beginning of the fourth, causing his corner to throw in the towel.

The card was produced by Matchroom in association with Tommy.

Also, Hungary's Mihali Kotai had a scare but held onto his IBO Light Middle belt with a draw against former world title challenger Sebastian Lujan of Argentina.
