Not a lot happens In the old barracks town of Plymouth, but when British Middleweight Champion Scott Dann is in the ring everyone knows about it and "The Pride of Plymouth" has a lot of weight on his shoulders. The Pavilions, seemingly a second home to the "Dynamite Dann", was more than happy to host the local man's biggest fight since Scott challenged triple champion Howard Eastman a few years ago. Canadian visitor Larry "Razor" Sharpe was up for the challenge

of his lifetime as he'd be facing Dann for the vacant Commonwealth crown. After only turning professional four years ago, Sharpe's dream had come early. Coming from a kickboxing background, the Canadian's resume wasn’t as fine as Dann's but his height and style was sure to cause problems.

Chris and Jamie Sanigar, promoters of Dann through their firm West Country Boxing, put on the well run bill. In addition to the Dann - Sharpe headliner, the pair showed off some of their top local talent, with Bristol's Lee Haskins defeating Anthony Mathias for the vacant Commonwealth Flyweight Championship. Sports Network put on a well run press conference in Cardiff earlier this week to publicize 2006's most anticipated fightcard, Joe Calzaghe - Jeff Lacy, taking place at Manchester's MEN Arena on March 4th. Welshmen to lace up the gloves. Joe Calzaghe, the eight year WBO Super Middle Champion, will finally get the fight he has needed for what only seems like an eternity and award winning WBU Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Maccarinelli, the patient observer, the chance to claim the title he’s perused for the best part of his career, Johnny Nelson's WBO crown. Both men have cried out for these fights and on the 4th of March, The MEN Arena will host their fates. With over seven thousand tickets sold so far and ITV broadcasting the event. Exclusive Boxing Interview: Scott Gammer

By Matthew Voyle October 13th, 2005 All Boxing Interviews

Welsh heavyweight Scott Gammer is bearing down on the domestic UK scene after his dominating performance over former British and Commonwealth Champion Julius Francis earlier this month on an exciting Paul Boyce promotion. Will the man from Pembroke Dock impose his will upon the best

Britain has to offer? It may not take long until the twenty nine year old slugger finds out. With John McDermott a done deal and the British heavyweight match up almost certain, the Hammer has his work cut out for him over the coming months, and SaddoBoxing.com was fortunate enough to speak with Scott. You won't want to miss what he had to say about his brilliant career prospects.

SaddoBoxing: First of all I’d like to congratulate you on your win over Julius Francis; you put on a good performance and got the job done in good fashion. Also, I’d like to wish you many happy returns on sealing the deal with your wife to be. Nice touch!

Scott Gammer: Thank you very much

SaddoBoxing: A cliche, but you beat up Julius Francis and got the girl.

SG: Yeah. Yeah, I think the girl was the most important part of the night for me. More...

Ringside Report: Gammer - Francis Undercard Boxing Action

By Matthew Voyle October 3rd, 2005 All Boxing Photos, Boxing Results, Ringside Boxing, Round by Round

--Massive Boxing Photo Gallery--

There was plenty of action on the undercard of Paul Boyce's Friday night promotion from the United Counties Showground in Carmarthen, Wales and SaddoBoxing was there to produce the following report along with a huge photo gallery.

In a scheduled four round super middleweight contest, 31 year old, Cardiff based Jason Samuels stepped into the ring against well seasoned opponent Hussain Osman. Samuels having been virtually inactive for the duration of his career, this was only his seventh fight in six years. Coupled with Osman coming in off three consecutive losses, the matchup between the two seemed equal and both fighters had a lot to lose. Round one shook off most of the ring rust that Samuels was carrying, as he soon got into a slick rhythm and maintained a high pace pursuing the Syrian born Osman. The London based fighter countered with some solid hooks that Samuels not only took well, but also returned the favour.

The competitive second and third rounds mirrored the first, with both fighters having success. But the smooth Samuels took the rounds convincingly by landing the better quality shots and seemed to be dictating the pace of the fight. More...

Ringside Report: Scott Gammer - Julius Francis British Heavyweight Boxing Action!

***MASSIVE EXCLUSIVE PHOTO GALLERY***

important domestic fightcard and presents the following exclusive round by round account of the main event complete with an action packed photo gallery. Coverage of the undercard will follow shortly.

In a bid to advance the career prospects of 28 year old Pembroke heavyweight Scott Gammer, matchmaker Jim Evans sought out the very durable ex- British and Commonwealth Champion Julius Francis. With the 40 year old Francis having lost his last dozen fights over the previous two and a half years, it was hard to see what such a talent like Scott Gammer would take from the pairing. Nevertheless, with the possibility of a British title shot for Gammer against the winner of mid-December's Danny Williams v Matt Skelton matchup, a loss to Francis would be devastating to the Welshman.
