Toney is one of the worst defensive fighters I have ever seen. Look at the way he speaks. That's from all the hits he takes...and he sounded like that at a young age! Look at the Samuel Peter fights.

You're an idiot. Don't judge Toney's career and skills when you saw him as an obese middleweight take on the 2nd best heavyweight in the world. James Toneys fought 80 times and only lost six fights...some of those were highly controversial losses. Give the man his respect. Yeah he's punchy but who wouldn't be after 80 professional fights. Ali fought 61 times, Frazier only 37 times, and they're a lot punchier than Toney. That's a true testament to his defensive prowess...and he's never been ko'd.

Ali wasn't a defensive fighter into his 30s...Frazier wasn't a defensive fighter EVER...came in head first...now look at Foreman, who fought 81 times...is he punch drunk? No, because he didn't take as many hits - he dished em out. Roberto Duran, 119 fights - not punch drunk. Toney is an excellent fighter, but he's still an idiot. He doesn't think. He let S. Peter beat on him two times and laughed it off. Not smart.

The guy would have been knocked out a long time ago had he not have a great defense. With that said, his defense relies on alot of head movement. He is not covering up so he does take a good shot here and there. Credit to him he has a good chin. Great fighter

Then you will realize my point. He does not think. Just because he has a good chin doesn't mean he's fighting intelligently. Toney didn't sound like that when he was not a heavyweight. He was fast enough to evade punches cause his head wasn't the size of a watermelon. Look at the stats before you argue with me.
