Gretzky play with kurri, anderson, messier, coffey and many others.Lemieux didn`t got this chance. And Mario is so more spectacular than Gretzky.

Woulda had Gretsky overall beat if he was healthy later in his career, plus he didn't use "Gretsky's Office" to his advantage as much, Mario worked for his goals, gretsky worked behind the net, and Crosby uses both.

Incredible. An awesome player. In the pain, injuries, and illness, he was magnificent. What a hero. The records say many things but Mario is a hero in the purest sense of the word.

    nice name LMAO

Bobby controlled the play every time he had the puck. He won the league scoring title as a defenseman twice (won't happen again). He was a career +597, with a record +124 season he had in 1970-71. He created the offensive defenseman. He was the 1976 canada cup mvp on only one knee ( he couldn't skate backwards). He fought, he dominated every aspect of his position, as good defensively as offensively. Gretzky and Lemieux were no where near as good in there own end as their opponents.

You think it's amazing: 43 games, 35 goals and 41 assists in Lemieux's come back year. Well, that is only 1.77 points per game. Lemieux averaged 2.0 points per game before he retired the first time.

  12. Oct 24, 2009 at 04:41 PM by jonkash21

lol yes he was but mario is still...magnificent

  13. Oct 22, 2009 at 04:44 PM by MidnightRambler444

Williams - you don't have a clue as to the impact that Orr has had not only on the city of Boston but New England as well nor do you have any idea as to how Orr not only revolutionized his position but hockey as well. You should try crack, it might help.

  14. Oct 22, 2009 at 03:40 PM by Williams1505

Sorry but you and goldendestroyer are both on crack. Lemieux Owns. Granted Greztky Has all the records. but just imagine if Lemieux play all those games he was hurt. No comparison. Hands down. Not Only that, what has Orr or Greztky Down for their cities. Lemieux has been a huge inspiration in kid like myself to play hockey, and He saved our hockey team. Twice.

  15. Oct 22, 2009 at 11:07 AM by GoldenDestroyer

    Orr was the best

  16. Oct 5, 2009 at 02:41 PM by MidnightRambler444

Way better than Gretzky but not better than Orr

  17. Oct 3, 2009 at 06:24 PM by evh5150316

43 games....35 goals and 41 assists..... WOW. Can you imagine if he played the WHOLE season?

  18. Sep 23, 2009 at 10:50 AM by hunterto99

Why does people argue who's better, Lemieux or Greztky. They both were the best players ever. I bet Marion could have had good chances to do alot more points. but he had bad injury and cancer. They both are legends. 12 year old trolls could just stop posting.

    Greatest player of all time.

you ladive lovers just don't understand that ladive retired younger the first time so of course his ppg would be higher then. NOT ANYMORE

  23. Sep 2, 2009 at 09:37 PM by DoyleRedland

I'm not going to argue who's better or who's more talented; both Gretzky and Lemieux were gods among men. But, webbew66, I have to respectfully disagree with you on Gretzky being a "subtle" talent. No disrespect, but you're only 22. You were 12 when Gretzky retired, and weren't even born when he was in his prime. In his heydey, Gretzky was anything but subtle. He would take over a game and dominate the way only Orr had before. He was electric, dangerous, and stood out nearly every shift.

  24. Aug 30, 2009 at 07:39 PM by webbew66

Lemieux and Gretzky are both great players. Lemieux was more talented, he made everything on the ice look easy. Gretzky was a more subtle talent, might not notice him much during the game but at the end he would have 2 or 3 assists. In my opinion Lemieux is the more skilled player of the two in terms of skating, shooting, passing, and stickhandling. Gretzky thought the game better and used his teammates like no one else. In Canada Cup 87, there was no mistaking who was going to take that shot.

ya because he retired at a younger age you don't understand hockey i guess there is a debate about gretzky and orr but anyone who knows hockey know lemieux isn't in the equation
